HyperOS Xiaomi New Update

Xiaomi has finally decided to stop using the MIUI operating system after faithfully accompanying users for 13 years. Xiaomi has announced a new software interface called HyperOS.

So, what's the difference between MIUI and HyperOS?

In a post on his personal X account, Xiaomi Global VP Alvin Tse stated that HyperOS would bring enhanced connectivity to the Xiaomi ecosystem. This operating system is not only designed for smartphones but also for 200 other product categories within Xiaomi.

"We can't wait to see the new era of Hyper Performance, convenience, and connectivity across all smartphones and AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things)," he said, as quoted by Android Authority on Friday, October 20, 2023.

So far, Xiaomi has become one of the technology giants with the most extensive product portfolios, including mobile devices, wearables, cars, and smart home appliances. It seems that HyperOS is also designed to strengthen Xiaomi's AI technology ecosystem.

"In 2014, when the IoT (Internet of Things) business began to take shape, we further explored its development and verification. In 2017, research and development of a new system finally launched to support the entire ecosystem and applications. This is our goal," said Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun in a Weibo post.

Furthermore, Jun explained that HyperOS is built on deep integration between the Android operating system and the Vela system developed by the company.

"We rewrote its architecture from scratch and prepared a public foundation for the implementation of IoT on billions of devices and billions of connections in the future," he stated.

HyperOS will be gradually available to Xiaomi device users worldwide. Initially, this OS will be pre-loaded in the Xiaomi 14 flagship series.

Not much is known about the available features and the appearance of the software yet. It seems that detailed information about HyperOS can only be obtained when Xiaomi 14 is launched at the end of this month.

Xiaomi 14 to Feature Leica Camera Xiaomi 14 has been confirmed to feature a Leica camera. This was announced through Xiaomi's official Weibo account, a Chinese social media platform.

In the teaser poster, Xiaomi 14 is said to use Leica's Summilux lens, known for its excellent capabilities in smartphone products.

Xiaomi 14 is said to launch in China this month, with some sources suggesting October 27 as the date, although it has not been directly confirmed by Xiaomi.

The announcement regarding the launch schedule is expected to be made next week. Meanwhile, Qualcomm is also scheduled to announce its premium chipset, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, in the upcoming Snapdragon Summit.

Xiaomi 14 is said to be the first smartphone to experience the high-end successor to Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which is used in the current lineup of flagship phones on the market.

In addition to the chipset, it is rumored that Xiaomi 14 will rely on a 4,860 mAh battery with 90W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The Pro variant is said to feature a 5,000 mAh battery with 120W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

All the leaks regarding the battery and chipset should be taken with a grain of salt for now. Let's wait until Xiaomi officially unveils its latest flagship later this month!
